Case Study
Pub Restaurant Kitchen – This
pub
restaurant kitchen facility catered for approximately
750 covers each week, three quarters of which were over
the weekend. As a result, severe grease problems were
encountered, the grease trap and drains would experience
shock loading during these busy weekend periods. The
drains and ultimately the grease trap were treated with
a bioreactor using a BioTreat bio-fluid.
At the end of the drain line was a sewage treatment
plant installed to treat all the waste from the pub.
The restaurant had been treated with bio-fluid from
a BioTreat competitor for approximately three years
and had shown some improvement in the grease, however
the smell and quantity of grease was still a significant
problem.
In February 2000, the facilities management company
servicing the restaurant changed to BioTreat’s
formulation. Within two months the grease cap had decreased
300 mm in height and, for the first time since treatment
began several years ago the outlet weir was visible.
There were no adverse effects in the sewage treatment.
The primary tank was in good condition with no signs
of grease and the bio-zone was operating well. There
were no complaints of foul odours and there were no
additional blockages in the pipework.
